Let me tell you my story:
I was sentenced to the Corporate He**
business for almost 16 years! I would literally get on
an airplane on Monday morning - after facing that darn
rush hour traffic - go through all the fun and joy of
being searched, prodded and jostled and end up in a city
far from home.
I made that trip everyday - to
different cities until I made it back home on Friday
night - right during rush hour or I would be delayed and
end up in at midnight.
To say there were nights I woke up not
sure what city I was in would be an understatement.
I had vacations cancelled.
I was told I was being relocated on a
Friday - and had to report on Monday in the new city.
When I was married on July 28th 1990,
I was living in a hotel in California while Beverly was
at home in Houston preparing for the wedding, and the
relocation.
We went on a Honeymoon for a week,
came home, I packed my bags - and headed back and she
followed soon after getting everything packed and loaded
- because I had to be on the J.O.B.
and then we lived
in that dad gum hotel until we found a house.
We ended up being relocated 11 times
in the first 12 years of our marriage.
The Final Straw
The final straw came when I received a
call from Beverly one night - she was all excited and
happy and told me that the neighbor had taught our
oldest daughter, Olivia, how to ride her bike.
The mixed emotions that hit me - the
joy and happiness for my daughter, the anger and
frustration for not being there - not seeing this or
being the one that was the teacher...
It Made me just scream out in
Frustration... Never Again!
What Changed My Life...
I made the commitment to Never be put
into a position like that again.
I found someone that was willing to
train me to be a real estate investor - take me by the
hand - show me the ropes and help me overcome all of the
fears every new investor has.
He was able to walk me through my
first deal - and gave me the resources to make it
profitable.
The next deal put $20,000
into my pocket in just 2 weeks!
The next deal led me to doing a deal
that put a $20,000 Profit check in my hands in just 2
weeks after getting the house signed up.
My oldest daughter literally rolled on
the floor laughing because I handed that check over to
my wife and told her it was hers to do with as she
wanted.
My wife looked at it with Big Eyes -
and started to dance a little Jig that I will never
forget - she danced and laughed like never before - and
my daughter had never seen that side of Beverly before.
We laughed until we cried
because we knew it worked.
I left that corporate J.O.B. on April
15, 2000 and have never looked back.
The deals continued to roll in - week
after week - month after month and I had never felt so
alive.
Then 911 happened!
It was a turning point for me because
I made the decision to live out my childhood fantasy and
become a Fire Fighter!
To watch those hero's rush in when
everyone rushed out made me realize that I had to do
something to give back to my community.
I saw a sign, a bandit sign of all
things, asking for volunteers here in Atascocita -
Beverly thought I was nuts - I was 38 - out of shape -
overweight - did I mention an Asthmatic?
But I was not to be denied!
I ended up graduating that class and I
loved it so much that I put myself through a Texas
Certified academy and became a Certified Commissioned
Fire Fighter.
Did I mention that I graduated as the
class Valedictorian!
Today I am the Captain over Station 2
- The Guard Dawgs! That is me heading into the fire in
the red helmet.
This year alone I have taken a weeks
vacation in the Bahamas and another one in Cancun where
we swam with the Dolphins and visited the Mayan Ruins.
I have
traveled to Tampa for the weekend and am headed to Aspen
as a part of a very exclusive Mastermind Group in
August.
